Theory Tuesdays

Theory Tuesdays is a nonacademic platform for theoretical discussion founded, organized and coordinated by artist Philip Matesic since 2009. Participants read beforehand then discuss contemporary art, design, literary, cultural and critical theory on a weekly basis, with the texts selected and introduced each week by a different person.

Session 120: “The Beauty of My Island – Shooting Klaus Lutz”

During this Theory Tuesdays session, Ian Rodney Wooldridge screened the documentary “The Beauty of My Island – Shooting Klaus Lutz” directed by Frank Matter.

In August 1999, Klaus Lutz collaborated with filmmaker Frank Matter on a documentary about his work. For ten days, they locked themselves up in Lutz’s apartment in New York’s East Village to create the film. Klaus Lutz is a unique Swiss filmmaker who creates a visual universe completely his own.
